On March 18, 2020, BC declared a provincial state of emergency and the BC Premier, in partnership with Minister of Health, and the Public Health Officer, have implemented a whole of government response approach to COVID-19. As a result, some of our staff resources have been re-deployed to support the broader pandemic response.
While we have had to modify some of our processes and suspend non-essential activities such as site visits for the time being, the ALC remains open for business and applications continue to be accepted and processed. Given the critical shortage of labour in the agricultural sector, the processing of applications for Temporary Farm Worker Housing registered in a federal temporary worker program has been identified as a priority for the ALC.
Please note that given the dynamic nature of the pandemic, the information in this statement is subject to change.
