What’s new?

  • The Provincial Agricultural Land Commission Turns 50

    On April 18, 1973, the Legislative Assembly of BC gave royal assent to the Land Commission Act that ushered in a program to preserve BC’s scarce farmland resource.

  • Annual Report 2022-2023

    The ALC has published its 2022-2023 Annual Report which includes statistics on applications and decisions, Notices of Intent, compliance and enforcement, planning reviews and ALR land change.

  • Proposed ALR Inclusion of Federal Lands in the City of Surrey

    The ALC is initiating a proposal to include approximately 123 ha of land within the City of Surrey into the Provincial Agricultural Land Reserve. The subject land is comprised of five actively-farmed parcels currently owned by the Government of Canada.
